Who am I & What do I Do?

I am a freelance designer who focuses on designing lighting, scenery, and sound. I have a passion in working to help create the world of a play in any genre, through the different worlds of design. I have experience working to create these worlds in multiple different genres of theatre, including musicals, realism, surrealism, expressionism and more.

Within design I pride myself on my ability to create and build upon the world of the play, whether it be through scenery, creating the base for everything else, or lighting and sound, using them to build upon that base that has been created. I have worked as a designer on many shows so far, within lighting I have experience both working with a limited house hang, and also building an entire show hang with both conventional and intelligent fixtures. I have worked in sound design working with QLab to build a show, and sourcing sounds to import. I am currently building upon my sound design experience with an upcoming Sound design show, working to create the design, and all relevant paperwork. I have worked in scenic design to create the base of the world, researching relevant information, creating the renderings, drafted drawings, and assisting with any questions associated with the design.

I have experience working as a technician, acting as a lighting electrician. Also having experience working to build and load-in scenery within a scene shop and the theatre. I am building upon my current skills of working with sound equipment, and also rigging set pieces and working with fly systems. To work in the theatre I have my personal fall protection certification, and my mobile aerial work platform certification, meaning that within a theatre I can work at heights both on catwalks and in a lift. I have experience in theatrical drafting standards.

I have worked as a Technical Director for a small theatre company called Theatre Xtra, while doing this I acted as the technical liaison between all technical staff and designers. I was also the one to teach and aid designers as more often than not this was their first time designing. I have taught how to create cue lists, lighting plots, and ground plans.
